POST-DOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE:
One senior postdoctoral position will be available in the summer of 2015 for a postdoctoral researcher in the Moremen lab for a project on the mammalian cell expression and purification of mammalian glycosylation enzymes, biochemical enzymatic and structural characterization, and coordination with other collaborating investigators. Applicants should have extensive expertise in mammalian glycosylation enzymes (enzymatic assays and biochemical characterization), protein expression/purification, and structural biology. Experience in mammalian cell expression models is preferred. The project is part of an NIH supported Program Project Grant dealing with Chemistry and Biology of Glycosyltransferases. The research projects will: 1) study biochemical and structural aspects of glycosyltransferase to define their acceptor specificities at a molecular and structural level; 2) exploit the enzymes in a novel chemoenzymatic approach to provide glycans for structure activity relationship studies, aid in the development of the next generation of glycan microarray and as analytical standards; 3) develop sugar nucleotide donors modified by a chemical reporters to label subsets of glycoconjugates for visualization, capture and identification of glycans in cellular models of disease. Participating investigators of this multidisciplinary research projects include Drs. Geert-Jan Boons, Kelley Moremen, James Prestegard, Richard Steet and Lance Wells. Ability to work independently, creativity, motivation and a strong work ethic are important are essential for all positions. A curriculum vitae with a description of research experiences and contact information for three references should be sent to Kelley Moremen at: (moremen.uga.edu) Further information about CCRC can be found on: http://www.ccrc.uga.edu.
